Laparoscopy Unit

The field of surgery has experienced a revolution in the last 2 decades, and one of the most significant developments is laparoscopic surgery.

The advantages of Laparoscopic surgery include avoiding a large abdominal incision, less pain, less trauma, early recovery and short hospital stay.

The Endoscopy unit at Swapna Healthcare has been one of the earliest to be started (the 1980s) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with the concept of bringing the latest technology of international quality for the benefit of the women of our state. We have three ‘State of The Art’ OTs with the latest technology of International Standards. Since then we kept pace with the rest of the world in upgrading the technology, equipment, and the professional skills. Our institution has been known for the past three decades for delivering highly ethical and professional practice with utmost personal care.

Laparoscopy Unit

The one unique advantage of our Laparoscopy unit is that every major surgery is attended by the team of highly qualified laparoscopic surgeons from gynaecology as well as general surgery. This increases the safety of the patient even in highly complicated cases.

Swapna Healthcare was one of the first hospitals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to start Laparoscopic Surgery. Starting with diagnostic Laparoscopy, today we have expanded the facility to perform very complicated Laparoscopic surgeries. We have a team of Laparoscopic surgeons trained abroad who can take care of a range of gynaec and general surgical procedures. So far our hospital has performed several thousands of Laparoscopic Surgeries without any major complications.

Swapna Healthcare is the first center in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to be recognized by FOGSI (Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecological Society of India) for training gynaecologists in gynaecological laparoscopy. Several hundreds of gynaecologists had their basic & advanced training in Laparoscopy in our center.

Ovarian Cysts

The biggest ovarian cyst we removed Laparoscopically is 25x15cms. Dermoid is the most difficult cyst to be removed Laparoscopically and we have removed 135 dermoid cysts without any complications, and we also as many as 6dermoid cysts from a single patient without damaging the ovary. The women treated at our hospital for ovarian cysts range from twelve years to seventy-five years of age.

We have also operated on 534 patients with chocolate cysts, and another 354 patients with other types of ovarian cysts, by Laparoscopy.

Ectopic Pregnancy:

An Ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy that occurs outside the uterus. Laparoscopy is done with minimal damage to the tubes and other reproductive organs, at the same time giving an opportunity for the evaluation of all the other reproductive organs as well.

Ectopic PregnancyWe treated hundreds of ectopic pregnancies at our hospital by laparoscopy and we have to our credit treating rare ectopics like bilateral, cornual, heterotopic and ovarian pregnancies successfully (our publications can be referred to).

Poly Cyst Ovarian Syndrome:

Poly Cyst Ovarian Syndrome

PCOS is characterized by the presence of multiple cysts within both ovaries.

When medical treatment fails, laparoscopic puncturing of the ovarian cysts is the next option facilitating ovulation and conception.

Tubal Sterilization:

Tubal Sterilization is a surgical procedure done on women as a permanent method of contraception. Laparoscopy is the most popular method of Female Sterilization.

At our center, we have been doing a single puncture technique which is less painful and virtually scarless, and the patient needs to stay only for a few hours.

Endometriosis:
The uterus is lined with a layer of tissue called the Endometrium. Laparoscopic clearance of chocolate cysts (Endometrium in the Ovaries), separating the adhesions between organs and removing the deposits gives the women relief from pain and promotes fertility.

Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for Fibroid Uterus.

  • Hysterectomy (Surgical removal of a diseased uterus) is the most commonly performed gynaecological surgical procedure.

  • We perform this surgery through a tiny opening in the abdomen and two or three other small openings to insert the instruments so that there is no big cut and scar on the abdomen, and the patient needs to stay only for one day after the surgery. Women with big fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and previous abdominal surgeries also can undergo Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.
